Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek

Dates: April 6th-28th 2019

LocationBeni, Dhaulagiri

10-15 meetup members with experience trekking at high altitude who want to tackle one of Nepal most challenging treks!

This unforgettable adventure will take you into the heart of some the highest mountains in the world. From farming villages in the Himalayan foothills to high alpine pastures, uninhabited valleys and close-up views of several peaks over 8,000 meters, this trek is breathtaking and exciting at every stage. As a circuit trek, there is no retracing of your footsteps in the second half of the trip.

As we slowly gain elevation from our start at 850 meters to 3110 meters over 7 days, we will stay in tea houses. From there, the next 7 nights, including two acclimatization days, will be spent in tents at elevations ranging from 3660 to 5200 meters. We will spend time at both Italian Basecamp and Dhaulagiri Base camp. The final day we will trek to Jomsom at 2710 meters where we will stay in a tea house before our drive to Pokhara and then on back to Kathmandu.

This trek has the reputation as one of the toughest in Nepal and most suitable for those with previous experience trekking at altitudes above 5,000m. We will tackle several days above 5,000m including 2 mountain passes with snowy conditions and no easy way down. Adding to the challenge is the cold.
