Location: NH-AL State Forest, Boulder Junction, WI


The Wait is Over! Join us for this year’s trip and enjoy our new lightweight canoes!!!

On this 3-day canoe trip, we will paddle the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest. The pace will be relaxed paddling on flat water with a couple portages.

This trip will feature wildlife viewing, fishing opportunities, and 11 miles worth of hiking trails accessible from camp. Just for fun, Nickofthewoods will be leading an edible mushroom hunt. In past years we have collected 10-40 pounds of wild food!!!

Participants should have some paddling experience and camping experience. Participant must be comfortable in the water and should have their own personal camp gear or the ability to acquire it on their own. Participants should be in good physical health and able to carry their gear as well as assist in portaging lightweight canoes.

Nick Gordon, NREMT and Wilderness EMT, is the owner and lead instructor for NOW Outdoors LLC. He teaches more than a dozen wilderness adventure courses for UW-Milwaukee and teaches for the SOLO School of Wilderness Medicine. Since 2009, Nick has been teaching and guiding wilderness adventure, emergency readiness, and survival courses throughout the Great Lakes region and around the world. In addition to running the largest meetup community in the state, he also volunteers as a Regional Coordinator for the Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education.
